Signage Design & Production

Historically, many dental practices were located in period buildings and converted residential houses and unfortunately these could be very limiting with regards to external advertising. If your practice is located in this type of building we will always look to maximise the signage and advertising potential
.

In recent years the modern trend has seen dentistry turn towards high street locations by acquiring retail outlets and these have a great advantage with choice of signage and advertising in general. The costs for the design and production is usually higher than that of a period building as they tend to have the facilities such as large window areas and facia boards. The good news is that by investing in well designed, modern and attractive external signage, your practice will gain a better response and interest from the local public and will pay off in the long run.

Step 1 - How we begin

The first question we would ask is whether we are replacing exisiting signage or whether we will be starting from scratch. In both cases it is wise when developing a new practice, renovating or refurbishing with the use of architectural drawings, to find out any limitations or restrictions the planning authorities may have with your intentions. If you are using an architect, they may be able to advise you beforehand.

This information, together with photos and any necessary copies of the architects plans, will enable us to supply you with guide costs for both design and production. An initial design survey is only necessary beforehand if you are unable to supply us with any of these details.

If you are planning to open a new practice then we would always suggest designing and installing temporary signage with your new practice identity as this will gain interest and possible enquiries before opening.

Step 2 - The design project

Whether you would like just a small brass plaque or signage for the entire practice, both externally and internally, design4dentists have the experience to design and guide you through various materials and techniques available.

The design process may include an initial site survey if you are unable to supply measurements, certain technical or electrical information. Once we have this information we are able to design and supply you with technical illustrations and colour visuals for approval before production.

In some cases planning authorities may wish to see an external visual interpretation of how your practice will look before they grant you permission. Design4dentists also offer this service.

Here is a list below of different suggested signs which that may suit your practice:

• Projecting Signs
• Facia Signs
• Totem Poles
• Illuminated Signs
• Advertising Boards
• Perimeter Signs
• 'A' Boards
• Brass Plaques
• Entrance Door Signage
• Window Displays

• Directional Signage
• Reception Signs
• Waiting Room Displays
• Service Lists
• Internal Door Signs
Step 3- Production

Before designs are complete, design4dentists will discuss materials and if possible, supply samples to help you with your decision. Advice will always be given where the use of different materials may have an impact on the final appearance as colour choices are fairly limited in signage.

Production costs will be supplied once the designs have been approved and we will ensure that the production company are supplied with the same final set of specification drawings together with all the relevant digital files.

An installation date is then agreed and we will advise you of any necessary preparation work well in advance.

Design fees vary for each item depending on size, content and specification drawings needed but can be established after an initial consultation. This is the same for site surveys and will be calculated on an hourly basis of £65.00 per hour (any travelling time at £30.00 per hour.)
